One of the most common questions we get at Zarkie is: "How long will the battery last?" It's the right question to ask before you buy, and the honest answer is — it depends on which product you have, which heat setting you use, and how you charge it.

We stock several different batteries across our heated gloves, jackets, vests, hoodies, socks, and therapy wraps. This guide breaks down every battery we carry, what it powers, and exactly what runtime you can expect. We've also included some practical tips at the end for travelling with heated clothing batteries.

The Heated Glove Batteries

BX-25 — 7.4V, 1800mAh

Used with: Avert 2.0 Heated Glove Liners and ALT Battery Heated Gloves

The BX-25 is a slim, lightweight battery (just 80 grams, 10mm thin) designed to sit discreetly in the glove without adding bulk. Each glove takes one battery, so you'll receive two (one for each glove).

Runtime:

  • High: ~2 hours

  • Medium: ~3 hours

  • Low: ~5 hours

Charging: The BX-25 charges via USB, which gives you flexibility — but charge speed varies significantly depending on your charger. On a standard 5W charger, expect around 4 hours to full. With a 25W charger, you can get a full charge in as little as 45 minutes. If you're in a hurry, it's worth using a faster charger.

Battery life: Rated for approximately 500 charge cycles

Pro tip: For continuous all-day warmth, we recommend picking up a spare set of BX-25 batteries. Charge one pair while wearing the other and simply swap when needed.

Komine EK-209 — 7.4V Li-Po, 2100mAh

Used with: Komine EK-200 Carbon Protect Heated Gloves and Komine EK-205 Advanced Heated Gloves

Runtime:

  • High: ~2 hours

  • Medium: ~2 hours 40 minutes

  • Low: ~3 hours 30 minutes

Charging: The EK-209 uses a two-phase charging process — around 4.2 hours to reach 90% charge, followed by a 1-hour Li-Ion top-off phase. Total charge time is roughly 5 hours for a full charge. This two-phase approach is normal for lithium polymer batteries and helps protect long-term battery health.

Battery indicator: Press the button to display four blue LED lights showing remaining charge level — no guessing required.

Komine EK-251 — 7.4V Li-Po, 2150mAh (Current Generation)

Used with: Komine EK-219 Protect Motorcycle Heat Glove Set and Komine EK-220 Short Heated Glove

The EK-251 is the current-generation replacement for the EK-209, with a more modern USB-C input for charging and a DC output port. Importantly, it is backwards compatible with the EK-209 — so if you have older Komine gloves, the EK-251 will work as a drop-in replacement.

Runtime:

  • High: ~1 hour 50 minutes

  • Medium: ~2 hours 30 minutes

  • Low: ~4 hours 20 minutes

Charging: Approximately 3.5 hours using a 5V 2A (10W) charger via USB-C.

The Heated Therapy Battery

612B — 12V Li-ion, 2600mAh

Used with: Infrared Heat Therapy Back Wrap and Infrared Heat Therapy Shoulder & Neck Wrap

This is a higher-voltage battery designed for the therapy wrap range, which draws more power than gloves. It's slightly heavier at 180 grams and features a shake-to-check battery indicator — give it a quick shake and four LEDs light up to show remaining charge.

Runtime:

  • High: ~2 hours

  • Medium: ~3 hours

  • Low: ~4 hours 30 minutes

Charging: Approximately 2 hours for a full charge — one of the fastest charging batteries in our range.

The Heated Socks Battery

GLPe724A Powerbank — 5V, 2400mAh

Used with: Zarkie Bluetooth Controller USB Battery Heated Socks

This compact powerbank-style battery is designed specifically for the Zarkie heated socks, and it's the most feature-rich battery in our range. It charges via USB-C, outputs via USB-A, and includes a heat setting indicator that shows your current mode by colour: blue for Low, orange for Medium, and red for High.

Crucially, once switched on, this battery can be controlled remotely via the Zarkie app — so you can adjust the heat in your socks from your phone without bending down to fiddle with the battery.

Runtime:

  • High: ~3 hours

  • Medium: ~6 hours

  • Low: ~9 hours

Charging: Approximately 5 hours on a standard charger, or around 2.5 hours using a higher-wattage USB charger.

The generous battery life at medium and low settings makes these particularly well-suited for all-day use — a full workday on low from a single charge.

The Jacket, Vest & Hoodie Batteries

751B — 7.4V, 5000mAh (Current Generation)

Used with: Outlast Heated Jacket, Nomad Midlayers, Roam Vests, Battery Heated Sweat Pants, and Transit Hoodie.

View the 751B Battery →

This is the standard battery for our heated outerwear range. At 5000mAh the battery is designed to be comfortable to wear while still provind excellent heat when you need it. It features USB-C input and output, a DC output port, and a press-button LED indicator for charge level. UN38.3 certified for safety.

Runtime:

  • High: ~3 hours

  • Medium: ~6 hours

  • Low: ~9 hours

Charging: ~3.5 hours using a 20W charger.

Battery life: Rated for approximately 800 charge cycles — one of the longest-lasting batteries we stock.

App control: Once switched on, the 751B can be controlled remotely via the Zarkie APP app.

1150B — 10.8V, 5000mAh (High Wattage)

Used with: High Wattage 12V Battery Heated Vest

The 1150B is our most powerful battery, designed for the high-wattage heated vest. It runs at 10.8V and outputs significantly more heat than the 7.4V jacket batteries — which is reflected in shorter runtime at high and medium settings. If you genuinely need intense heat (think extreme cold, or medical conditions affecting circulation), this vest and battery combination delivers it.The high watt jacket also has a second pocket and wiring for having two batteries.

Runtime:

  • High: ~2 hours

  • Medium: ~4 hours

  • Low: ~8 hours

Charging: ~5 hours at 20W via USB-C.

App control: Once switched on, the 1150B can be controlled remotely via the app.

How to Get the Most Out of Your Battery

Use medium or low for everyday wear. The difference in warmth between high and medium is often less than you'd expect, but the difference in battery life is significant. Most of our customers find medium the sweet spot for comfort and longevity.

Charge before storing. If you're putting your heated clothing away at the end of winter, store the batteries at around 50–60% charge rather than fully flat or fully charged. This preserves long-term battery health.

Use the right charger. USB batteries charge faster with higher-wattage chargers. If you're in a hurry, a 20–25W USB charger will dramatically cut your charge time compared to a basic 5W phone charger.

Buy a spare. For products used in demanding conditions — walk-in freezers, outdoor labour, long motorcycle rides — a spare battery is the simplest solution for all-day coverage. Just swap when one runs low.

Travelling with Heated Clothing Batteries

If you're planning to fly with your heated clothing, there are a few things to know.

Always pack batteries in your carry-on luggage, not your checked baggage. This applies to all lithium batteries and is a requirement of most airlines. The cargo hold is not monitored for lithium battery incidents, which is why aviation authorities require them in the cabin where they can be seen and managed.

Check with your airline before you fly. Most airlines permit lithium batteries under 100Wh in carry-on without special approval. Here's where our batteries sit:

All battery runtimes are approximate and may vary based on ambient temperature, charger wattage, and usage patterns. Colder environments will generally reduce battery runtime.
